KidSport Vancouver supporters swam 66.5km on their way to raising over $13,000 to help local Vancouver children register in organized sport, so that no kid is left on the sidelines.
As of Monday June 25th, we have raised $14,175.44 and the total is still rising (DONATE).
Over 20 hardened athletes and their dedicated supporters gathered in the rain to swim as much as they could in one hour on Friday June 22nd. Despite the gloomy weather, a DJ was blasting the tunes, Ivviva Athletics came down to entertain those on deck, and treats were provided by Terra Breads and Incredible Goodies to keep spirits high for the dripping wet volunteers and when the swimmers finished their race.

Welcome to the 4th annual Swim-a-thon at Kits Pool where all money raised goes to KidSport Vancouver.
Date: June 22, 2012
Where: Kitsilano Outdoor Pool
Time: 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Why: To raise money for KidSport Vancouver
How can you participate?
To participate in the event it only costs $25 to swim. a tax-deductable amount. Even better than that, get people to sponsor you and you can swim for free.
Come to amazing Kits Outdoor Pool and be ready to have some fun. Enjoy swimming and all the fun activities on deck as we help raise funds and awareness So All Kids Can Play!
There will be two swim sessions this year. Our traditional 1 hour timed swim will take place from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. We will also host a shorter half hour swim for those interested from 7:00pm to 7:30pm.
With both swims you are welcome to swim as much or little as you like. It’s not how far you swim, but how much fun we have. And to remember that the money we raise will help to remove financial barriers that prevent kids from playing organized sport.
There will be yummy snacks and refreshments on deck, sponsors on display, and a DJ playing music to swim to. Come down and join us, as it will be a Friday Night to remember!
While we hope you can register to particpate and raise money online, please see below forms for manual donations:

History
The very first annual KidSport Swim-a-thon began in 2009 with Vancouver’s Fast Lane swim club.
Over 50 swimmers turned out to help raise awareness and funds for kids in Vancouver to get in the game.
The event raised approximately $10,000 and KidSport Vancouver co-chair Brent Nichols was on hand to present Beverli Barnes with a prize for her top fundraising efforts.

KidSport Vancouver volunteers manned the water station at Lumberman’s Arch for the 40th Annual James Cunningham Seawall Race. The ‘Race’ was originated and is still organized to this day by the Lions Gate Road Runners in 1971, the year the last stone was laid on the Stanley Park Seawall, in honour of James “Jimmy” Cunningham, a stonemason who spent most of life coordinating the construction of the seawall. The race takes runners along the entire circumference of the seawall, showing off the gorgeous Vancouver scenery.

On Saturday 11 September, 2010, about 4,000 cyclists took-over one northbound lane of Highway 99 for the first annual Vancouver – Whistler Gran Fondo bike ride. The 125 km uphill course was a scenic but a grueling ordeal of fitness, tenacity and teamwork. Some of the riders, who are also known as ‘crazy’, called themselves “Team Fun Hog”. Seriously though, it was herculean but a blast! Team Fun Hog raised over $6,000 for KidSport Vancouver!
